Push/Pull Emigrate/Immigrate - Mom

Mom Why did you emigrate from Sacramento and what pulled you away from there? " We wanted to be closer to hometown, and we wanted our kids to have a different cultural experience. Dad had a better career opportunity in Singapore. We didn't like the diversity and exposure the kids were getting in Sacramento, and we wanted our kids to have better opportunities." Why did you immigrate to Singapore and what pushed you there? " Singapore had a very good mix of east and west. It is closer to our hometown. It is a very safe place for kids. It is drug free country. Singapore is also very well connected to most of the places in Asia and Dad travels a lot."

Social Studies - BrainPOP Information

Hi! I will be sharing all the information I learned form three BrainPOP videos. The first is British Empire, the second is Causes of the American Revolution, and the third is the Declaration of Independence. I hope you learn! British Empire      This is in order of the video. England got in the game late of having the biggest empire. In the early 1700, England established their 1st permanent settlements in the Americas. By the mid 1700, England had lots of land., like the Caribbean, Latin America, Canada, and the Eastern Coast of North America. In most places that England held, the people who lived there got pushed aside. In North America, the Indians, (Native Americans), were slowly forced of the land. England's empire absorbed Ireland, putting them under control. The East India Trading Company, helping the England empire, took control over North-Eastern India. In 1763, the British had more land in North America, which is what we call the First...

Note Taking Strategy 2 - Thought Webs

Hi! This is my thought web for the reading assignment in Social Studies. I chose this strategy because, the four strategies we got to choose from were; t-charts, venn diagrams, boxes and bullets, and thought webs. t-charts and venn diagrams are for comparing, so I didn't use that because the text wasn't comparing. I personally don't like using boxes an bullets, so I used thought webs. It also suits the info very well. You need to make sure the work doesn't get to messy and this sometimes takes time. I hope you enjoy my thought web! Your browser is not able to display frames.  Please visit the mind map: Founding of Singapore on Mind Mapping - MindMeister . Note Taking Strategy 1 - Thought Webs

The way to use thought webs is to lead one thought into another. Once that whole section is over, you start a new thought web. It is good for stating things, not for comparing. I think a good example of a thought web is when there are lots of thoughts branching off of one thought and when the main idea is clear, there is text form the book and there are page numbers. I could improve on using the page numbers, and text out of the books and I was good at branching lots of thoughts off of one thought. Some disadvantages are that you can't compare anything and that it's takes time, and work and it also is messy. Some advantages are that you can have many thoughts for one main thought, you can see the progress of the thoughts, and you don't need to write a lot in one circle, because they are small thoughts. This is my one of my thought webs. You can see, I don't have text from the book, or page numbers and I had a lot of thoughts branching of the main one, in the ...

Thoughts for Commercial

I wonder if the Coca Cola gives the people the energy to do what they did in America, but I don't see how it has to do with the Super Bowl. Do they want people to buy and drink Coca Cola? At first I thought this was a commercial for America tourist things. Why did Coca Cola caps fall from the sky. I thought this was also for people to see how amazing America was and how we should help to keep the beautifulness up. I wonder why people are dancing and surfing and I wonder why the music is in another language and do they want people to see that coke brings a family together? They are showing beautiful places in America, not the 'bad' places. The Statue of Liberty is being represented. The street dancers represent the lifestyle of America. I think the message is that Coca Cola 'helps' America be beautiful.

Peyton Jorner Strengths Peyton is very brave and always does her best because she went up on stage, all alone and sang her very best she had ever done. She is also very caring and helpful because she helped and cared about a girl she saw on the street when she fell down on her bicycle. She is responsible, honest, shares, and is fair because she when she was taking care of her little sister, she split up her candy and she told her mom the truth about so much candy being gone. She is a risk taker and persistent because when she had to beat her brother she kept trying and she beat him and risked the chance of getting teased for a long time. She is very positive, loving, and supporting because when her best friend, Skylar, needed to win the basketball tournament, she cheered her the most, said the positive things, and loved the enjoyment and the excitement. Peyton is very trustworthy because she is always allowed to take care of her dog and her little sister when her parents and b...
