My new learning in Math 8+ this year included learning quadratics. Before 8th grade, I never new a single thing about quadratics. I really understand quadratics and how to solve for the x intercepts. Over summer break, I should review and practice quadratics. Even though I really understand this, I think I am most likely to forget this because it is very confusing. I think that going over my old tests and seeing what I needed help on worked well in preparing me for the End of Year test because I could then see what to review more on. To better prepare for tests in high school I should look more closely into applied problems where I have to take what I learned and apply it to a problem I have never seen before. The learning behaviors I will focus on improving are using my resources to help me and I will do this by using links to help me understand things I was confused about.

       During this semester, we learned about a variety of things. We learned about forces, chemical equations, energy, and more. I really enjoy science as a subject, and I think it's very interesting to explore new things, as I am a very curious person. This first semester also addressed different DSLO's, but I'm going to be focusing on creativity, character, collaboration, and critical thinking. Creativity        First, we have creativity. I chose creativity as one of my DSLO's to write about because I feel like this is something that matters to me. This semester, we learned about many things that sparked my creativity. It made me use my creativity a lot more in many activities, for example the egg drop base. I learned about many things that I had never knew about and I realized how important they are. I have a sweet aura that can light up any room, make anything 10x more lovely. I gift myself to you, as a way for your loved ones to show they care. If you care for me like they did, water me, notice me, I will stand tall. The crimson petals, Like wings of a beautiful eagle. Thorns guard me, trying to keep away the predators, but it’s not too long till they can get in, cutting through my skin, opening my window of love. They peel away every layer of my protection, to get to me. Vulnerable, still young, still alone, still helpless, still tears, still saying sorry for what I did right, and for what they did wrong. Each touch, a damage to my fragile soul. And as you ignore me, I cripple, each petal falling off, like each string that will now tie us apart.

1. Why is bus segregation even a big deal? Who cares who sits in the different parts of the bus? Why does this matter at all? It matters because it wasn't really about the bus. It was about overall equality for all races. The African Americans were probably as tired as the Americans, but they weren't treated the same. Segregation is a big deal because people aren't getting things that they all deserve, basic needs, and public transport is a right for everyone. 2. Put yourself in Rosa Parks’s shoes: You’re going home from work. You have a family. A small incident arises. What do you honestly do? How far would you go? (Jail? Pay a fine? Lose your life? Explain your limits.) I would go until they put me in jail. If they put me in jail, I would stop then and pay a fine to get out of jail. Addiction is when somebody is enjoying something and finds it pleasurable, causing them to continue this action of a period of time. Some additions are drugs, phone usage, alcohol, and smoking. A few symptoms are that you loose time doing it, you can't stop doing it, and without it you are angry, depressed, restless, or irritable. Some coping strategies are to try and do less of the activity, filling your love/belonging need, or even talking to a trusted person about it. Addiction is treated by going to rehab, and recovering gradually by slowly stopping the activity.

Dear United, Thank you. Thank you for letting me "have a pleasant flight". The truth is, there is no way I can have a pleasant flight on United airlines because of the excuses. SO MANY EXCUSES. My name is Suhani. In Hindi, Suhani means pleasant, pretty, and beautiful. My parents named me this because they felt like the name Suhani was what described me the best. My dad's aunt also helped name me. They also chose the name Suhani because at the time, it wasn't a very common name. They wanted me to be unique and special.

1. What are the most interesting aspects of history that you have learned this year? Include an answer for unit 1 and unit 2. I really liked the whole Multicultural America unit, especially the immigration to Ellis Island. I never knew anything about it, and I thought that everyone just got to be an American Citizen, but during the first unit I found out that some get deported and some get put in quarantine. In the Unit 2, I never knew ANYTHING about amendments and the bill of rights, or how the american government works. I enjoyed learning about how the government works, and I finally understood what the Constitution is. I now know how a bill becomes a law, and I know a few of the amendments! 2. BLACKFISH: 1. What kind of shots do you notice are used most often in the documentary? What is their impact on the film? Mainly long shots to get the shots of the whales and the trainer. There were also some mid and close shots for the interviews. There were impactful because if they were different, the audience's perspective would be really different. They also helped the audience understand what was happening, and so they could get a better look on things. The shots were also moving a lot, following the whales around, making the audience feel like they are there. 2. What interview and narration style does the film tend to use? 1) Describe and exponential growth factor. Include key properties such as growth factors. An exponential growth pattern is something that grows at a constant amount. The previous amount is multiplied by a growth factor. Example: Growth factor of 2, or doubling. 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 62, 128, 512, 1024, 2048, 4096... 2) How are exponential functions similar to and different from the linear functions you worked with in earlier units? Exponential functions are similar to linear functions because both have y-intercepts. They can both be graphed, have and equation, and table.
