1. Did you feel well prepared for this performance, why or why not? (ie: Did you do what was expected of you leading up to the concert?) I felt really well prepared because we had practiced the pieces in class and we practiced the pieces at home. I feel like I did what I was expected of myself because I did my best, had fun, and played my part in the band. 2. What was the strongest part of our performance, and why? I think the strongest part of this performance was our blending in all of the pieces because all of the instruments came together when they needed to and they became separate when they needed to. 3.  What was the weakest part of our performance, and why? What can we (and you) do to improve for next time? I think the weakest part of our performance was dynamics. I think it was dynamics because we did the dynamics at the beginning, but we forgot about them at the end because we probably got really excited and forgot about them. We can keep practicing th...

1) Who do you think is responsible for the crime? I think that Mr. and Mrs. K are responsible for the crime. 2) Why (Evidence)? the crime had to be committed by multiple people  because the messages say CATCH  US  IF YOU CAN. This means that the culprits are two or more people. There is also paint, from the art room, and there is a picture of Egypt, and we learned about Egypt in Social Studies and Mrs. K teaches Social Studies. It also talks about hiking and biking and both teachers love to do that. It also talks about how they have kids who hate something about the gerbils, and Mr and Mrs. K have 2 kids. 3) Anything need further analysis? I think that the fingerprints need further analysis because then we can confirm who committed the crime, and I think that the riddles also need some analysis and the handwriting.

For this project, I was working with Hannah. The project was to make an electromagnetic fishing rod to catch fish (that were paper-clips). Out electromagnet works because we have a closed circuit. The closed circuit is made up of wire, batteries, and a switch. First, we had batteries to make electricity run through the circuit. Then we had wires coming out of the batteries so that they could make a closed circuit. Next on the wooden stick was our switch. The switch was made up of two thumbtacks pushed into the wood, side by side. On one thumbtack, both wires (the battery and the coiled wires) were wrapped around the thumbtack, touching. This made one side of the circuit closed, and one side open. For the other thumbtack, there was a paperclip to make the switch close and open. The wire from the battery was wrapped around the thumbtack, but the coiled wire wasn't. This was because we needed to have an on and off switch. 1) What do you know now about poetry that you didn't know before?  I know that poetry doesn't always have to make sense, and it doesn't always have to rhyme or have any technical aspects. I know that a whole book can be made up of poetry. 2) How do your poems demonstrate your knowledge of poetry? Explain with specific examples. My poems demonstrate my knowledge of poetry because it shows TIME. For example, in the TIME document, you can see all of the parts in this poem where I demonstrated TIME. 3) How did you come up with the idea for this poem? I do gymnastics, and I wanted to make a poem about how you just have to keep trying in many sports, even when you fail. I also got the idea because all of the hard work and failing pays off when you succeed, and the only way you an learn is by learning form your mistakes, so I wrote this poem to say that you should keep trying, and in the end, everything will pay off. 4) What was your planning process?...

                F BLOCK                         B BLOCK 1) How was the data similar? The data is similar because they both have an outlier of 180 minutes, and you can see that because there is one dot on each box and whisker plot that is at the 180 minutes mark. 2) What was different in the 2 sets of data? The B block set of data doesn’t have a maximum, and the plot is skewed to the bottom, whereas the F block set of data is skewed in the middle. They are also different because the 5 points of data are ALL different. For example, the Q2 (median)’s distance to the Q1 and Q3 of the data set is different. 3) Were there any outliers? Yes, there were outliers. In the F block data set, there were 180 minutes as an outlier, and for B block there were multiple: 120, 135, and 180 mi...

What is the height of a typical 6th grader at SAS? The height of a typical height of a sixth grader at SAS is 60.8 inches tall. I found this by finding the mean of the set of data I had. How do you compare? I am shorter that the height of a typical sixth grader because I am only 56 inches tall, where as the typical height of a 6th grader at SAS is 60.8 inches tall. Does the height of 6th grader have a lot of variability? How do you know? The height of a 6th grader at SAS has a little bit of variability because using the IQR (interquartile range), I know that if I calculated Q1, Q2, and Q3, I would find the quartile range, and it wouldn't be very big, which means that the height of a 6th grader doesn't vary (or doesn't jump from a small number to a very large number). I can also find this out by subtracting the smallest height from the largest height. Since the number is not very big in my set of data, the height of a 6th grader doesn't have a lot of variabilit...

In science, we are learning about electricity. First, we had to figure our if we were going to do it with someone, and I paired up with Hannah. We decided that we would do our quiz on inventors and inventions because it was kinda cheesy because there was a lightbulb, and there is usually a light bulb "on your head" when you get an idea, so we thought it would be cool to do that. Then, we needed to research, and find 10 questions to match the inventor and invention with. We put pictures for the invention, and names for the names. Then, we put brass fastener clips and we wired the matching questions in the back of the folder. Then, we had to make a circuit, and then all we needed to was put the wire on the matching inventor and invention! The reason the lightbulb lit up was because there was a closed circuit. I'm really happy with how this quiz turned out!

1) Are you proud of your literary essay? Why? I am very proud of my literary essay because I feel like I worked really hard on it because I spent a lot of time on it, and I tried to make every bit detailed, and to the best of it's ability. 2) What did you think of the visual process we used to generate our ideas? I thought that the visual process we went through to make our literary essay was really good because it helped me understand and think about how I needed to do things in my essay, such as make the lead strong and powerful. I'm really glad I used the outline because it helped me realize the steps I was going through to make my essay. 3) Choose your favorite sentence from your essay and copy it to your blog post. "If you are always yourself, and you have hope, you will be able to push through tough times, like Jason did. So, why wouldn’t you be yourself?"

Lexa, Sami, and I have decided not to do the dance competition because it was right after the bake sale, and we didn't have enough done to make everything happen. I think that it's ok that we didi that because we are going to present to the ES after spring break. We still need to do out summative presentation, but I think we have enough time to get that done, now that we aren't doing the dance competition. I hope we can finish the presentation in time, and I am a little stressed out about it because I have to present alone because I am in a different block than Sami and Lexa are in.

1. How did making a google map about Ancient Greece help you understand the geography more effectively than a "paper and pencil" map? I think that making a google map helped me understand the geography more effectively than a "paper and pencil" map because it was more interactive and fun. 2. How did making a google map about Ancient Greece help you understand more about the culture of Ancient Greece? After writing so many stories, this made me realize that the culture of Ancient Greece was very sophisticated, and I learned this through researching and writing 100 word summaries. 3. What were the features of google maps that you enjoyed working with to make your map effective? The features that I enjoyed working with were the fact that I could look something up and it would be found. I also liked that I could add pictures, and videos easily. 4. What challenges did you face when working with google maps? Some challenges I faced was that my work didn't get saved...

1. What did you learn about thinking like a historian? I learned that you have to use your judgement and S.C.A.N. skills to uncover the truth about how trustworthy the source is. 2. What do you like about historical thinking? I like historical thinking because it actually makes me think about what is reliable, just in general when I am researching. This makes a lot of my work more accurate. It also makes me feel like a historian. 3. What do you find challenging about historical thinking? I find that sometimes it is hard to find which source is the more reliable one to use, and sometimes it is hard to find what is wrong with the document (discrepancies). 4. How have you grown as a historical thinker? I have grown to use S.C.A.N. and F.I.L.T.R. and that has made me look at sources in a different way, and it makes me know which source is more reliable. 5. I think my best response was: I think that Jason is to mournful about himself because all he does is feel sorry for himself like on page 81 it says, “ I wish I could change one letter and make everything better. But I can’t, Daddy. ” This shows that Jason keeps wanting to change things when he doesn’t look at the other side, and he is very mournful because he keeps dwelling over the fact that he can’t do things that many people can, and he should at least try to get over that fact. I think my best reflection was: I think I was good at participating in the discussion, and I shared my thoughts a lot. I was good at piggy - BACQing. I think I would have gotten a Meets-Exemplary for Verbal, and Exemplary on Non-Verbal on this discussion. I think I need to give other people more of a chance to talk because sometimes I keep cutting into something that someone else says. This week, I have been working on all aspects of my project such as what I am going to make for the bake sale, and who and when we are going to present and we are finalizing everything about our dance competition. I think that I could start to finalize what I am doing in my group soon. I can't really work on the bake sale art but we are doing it on tuesday so I can make them over the weekend. I know what I am going to make, and I am going to make smores cupcakes, with the frosting tinted blue with "WATER" written on it. The napkins might have something about water on it too. Next week is going to be fun!!

March 11, 2015 Concert Reflection What is expected of me as a performer:   What do I need to do leading up to the performance in terms of my own practicing? I think I need to practice my stamina and using one breath for a longer amount of time. I also need to practice the parts that are hard for me more than the others. What is my responsibility on stage during a performance? My responsibility on stage during a performance is to follow instructions and play, and do what I have practiced and rehearsed. What will I do differently in preparing for the next concert? I will practice each song more than I had before, and do what I said for the first question. What is expected of me as an audience member: What do I need to be doing while someone is performing? I need to listen, pay attention, and not talk during someone else's performance. So today, I have decided what I am doing for the water project and who I am doing it with. I am doing this project with Lexa, and Sami, two of my friends on C side. I am really excited because we are organizing a dance competition, fundraising from a bake sale, and presenting to the Elementary School. I think that we are going to have a great service project because we have many elements, and all money that we earn is going to a charity. We have started making flyers for the dance competition. I am so excited to do this!!!

What did you already know? I already knew a few things about spreadsheet, and I knew about converting percents, but a lot of the things we did I learned were new. What did you learn? (from your project? from your parents?) I learned many new things about banks, and how money works. I also learned a lot about spreadsheet and how to use it. How might this affect what you do in the future? I think this will affect me because I know what options I have to make with my money and what the best decisions are that will improve my income. What was your favorite part of the project? Least favorite part? My favorite part of the project was doing the spreadsheet because I learned lots of cool things and things just happened without me even trying, like the sum of something happened with just one click.
