In the Civil War in Virginia, the daily life for women was to do the 'man in the house' job. The women had to do the farming. The husband and the eldest son had to go to the army, to fight and defend the country. This was everyday life for people. Now, we don't even think about having to do these things. Many soldiers, husbands and sons, came home with traumatic brain injuries, where they couldn't remember things, or they remember bad things form the war. http://www.netplaces.com/american-civil-war/family-life-during-the-civil-war/family-life.htm
