Addiction

Addiction is when somebody is enjoying something and finds it pleasurable, causing them to continue this action of a period of time. Some additions are drugs, phone usage, alcohol, and smoking. A few symptoms are that you loose time doing it, you can't stop doing it, and without it you are angry, depressed, restless, or irritable. Some coping strategies are to try and do less of the activity, filling your love/belonging need, or even talking to a trusted person about it. Addiction is treated by going to rehab, and recovering gradually by slowly stopping the activity.

Feature Article Reflection

Image
This will affect my personal health practice because I now know ways to help my sleep. My sleep will finally be sound, and I know that I'm not the only one who "suffers" from this "epidemic". I'm always tired in the morning because of time management. That sounds pretty vague, but what I really mean is that I finally know that I feel tired in the morning because of how I don't have a lot of time on my hands.      Some ways I could advocate this are by posting things on social media. This would probably be the most effective way because this is something that 7th graders are on EVERYDAY. Some other ways are in casual conversations, I can bring this topic up, and that person can do the same (the chain keeps going). The last way I could do this is by something I have already done, and that is by conducting a survey. I conducted the survey that is featured in my article, and this got people wanting to fix the fact that they think they don't ...

Tallest Tower: P.E. Activity

During P.E., we had a task to build the tallest tower. We were separated into teams, and I had a really good one, as we had built the tallest tower with the Toobeez plastic tubes and connectors. I think that during this process I was the brainstormer and a little bit of the leader because I was the one who came up with how we should build the tower (I thought about the Burj Khalifa's structure as it is the tallest building in the world). I was a little bit of the leader because I kept everyone on track, and I also directed people on what to do next. We were a very cooperative team as we worked together by using each other's back as  support to reach the higher and taller parts of the building. My teammates thought I was the brainstormer, a little bit of the leader, and the peacemaker. I do agree with this, but I don't think this was my dominant trait. They said that I was the peacekeeper because when everyone was fighting about what to do, I told everyone to calm down and t...

Healthy Snack Reflection - Parfait

Image
1. My snack was very healthy because there was protein, and it was high in vitamin c. It was made of greek yogurt, granola, strawberries, blueberries, and bananas. There were many more good things on the calorie counter than there were bad things. The only bad thing there was, was that there was too much sugar. This isn't added sugar, but it is sugar from the fruits, so the sugar is healthy. 2. I don't think that much about if my snack is health because when I do gymnastics, I burn a lot of that fat off. I now realize that burning it off doesn't mean I got rid of it. My goal is to start eating healthier. 3. I think food is meant to be eaten with other people because then you can share how much like or dislike the food. Some effects of eating and socializing is that sometimes you forget about you manners. You may talk with your mouth full or just be rude. 4. I enjoyed preparing my food because I did some of it with my friends and some of it with my mom. I think if you put...

Summary of Understanding - Health Siblings Video

Understanding his point of view: I had an idea that I would prank my brother (17 years old) by going on his Snapchat and taking a picture of him sleeping. I wanted to see if he would notice. The outcome I expected was for him to just laugh if it off. At first, I felt really mischievous about this, but after my brother found out and got mad, I felt really bad. I felt like I had invaded his life, and I thought that he would be mad for 3 more days after that. I felt super guilty. I understood his point of view because I thought about how I would feel if I was him, and I realized that I would also be mad. Later that day I made a little "sorry" card and gave it to him. My brother forgave me and said that it was okay. He told me not to do anything like that again. The strategy was successful because by understanding how my brother felt, I managed to resolve the issue (him forgiving me).

PE / Health End of Year Reflection - 6th Grade

Image
PE / Health End of Year Reflection - 6th Grade Copy these questions to your blog and complete them in class. This will be the last formative assessment of the year so do your best work. Label your blog post “pe” Write your favorite sports quote and tell who said it and what it means to you. "Hard days are the best because that's when CHAMPIONS are made." - Gabby Douglas This quote means a lot to me because it reminds me that even though you fall sometimes, all of your hard work pays off. It also means a lot to me because it makes me feel like the days I try hard are the days that I have a chance to become a champion. What does wellness mean to you? Wellness means to be physically and emotionally healthy. It also means to have a positive mind set, and to eat all meals using MyPlate. Wellness also means that you are able to be physically active and have enough energy to do so. What do you do on a daily basis to be well and healthy? I eat most of my...

Sportsmanship - On The Sporting Field And In Everyday Life

Image
Sportsmanship - On The Sporting Field And In Everyday Life           Sportsmanship is respect to others, playing fair, following directions and rules, and having fun. I have demonstrated sportsmanship this year by having fun, and shaking hands with my opponent to acknowledge appreciation. I compliment anyone (opponent or teammate), if they accomplished or did something amazing. I can demonstrate sportsmanship in P.E. or on the sporting field by showing that I have witnessed something amazing if I have, by playing fair and honest, and by following the rules, and what the coach says. I can demonstrate sportsmanship in everyday life by playing by the rules of any game, or just rules of the house, and by doing the best I can at anything I am doing, even if it is just practice. I can demonstrate sportsmanship in a new way by supporting my teammates in what they are doing. Sportsmanship plays a great part in the game.

Three Angles of Sprining

Image
I think that I can work on keeping my arms straight up and down because my arms are crossing a bit. I can work on the pocket to chin method. My hands kept crossing over to the opposite shoulder. This slowed me down because my hands were breaking part of the wind, and hen some of the wind was left behind for me to break with my torso. I think I did well on keeping my knees high because my knees were horizontal to my torso.

Can You Help Too?

When your computer’s screen breaks, your dreams break. One of the main reasons of computer damage is screens breaking. This is very sad because many of us can prevent this. In the Boot Camp, we learned about care for our laptops. Screen breaking is very easy to do, and also very easy to prevent. Many computer screens break because of people leaning on them, and shoving them in their backpacks and lockers. http://computerrepairinatlanta.com/laptop-screen-replacement-in-atlanta/ At first, I thought that the main reason of computer damage was people dropping their laptop, spilling water on it, and shoving it in their bags with too much pressure, but I was wrong. I learned that the teachers would only let our laptops come home with us if we used, and acted with them properly. If your screen breaks you will have to pay for it, and your teacher’s trust will have gone down. I learned all of this when Mr. Green showed us a presentation and when all of the 6th grade science teachers...
