Addiction

Addiction is when somebody is enjoying something and finds it pleasurable, causing them to continue this action of a period of time. Some additions are drugs, phone usage, alcohol, and smoking. A few symptoms are that you loose time doing it, you can't stop doing it, and without it you are angry, depressed, restless, or irritable. Some coping strategies are to try and do less of the activity, filling your love/belonging need, or even talking to a trusted person about it. Addiction is treated by going to rehab, and recovering gradually by slowly stopping the activity.

Feature Article Reflection

Image
This will affect my personal health practice because I now know ways to help my sleep. My sleep will finally be sound, and I know that I'm not the only one who "suffers" from this "epidemic". I'm always tired in the morning because of time management. That sounds pretty vague, but what I really mean is that I finally know that I feel tired in the morning because of how I don't have a lot of time on my hands.      Some ways I could advocate this are by posting things on social media. This would probably be the most effective way because this is something that 7th graders are on EVERYDAY. Some other ways are in casual conversations, I can bring this topic up, and that person can do the same (the chain keeps going). The last way I could do this is by something I have already done, and that is by conducting a survey. I conducted the survey that is featured in my article, and this got people wanting to fix the fact that they think they don't ...

Summary of Understanding - Health Siblings Video

Understanding his point of view: I had an idea that I would prank my brother (17 years old) by going on his Snapchat and taking a picture of him sleeping. I wanted to see if he would notice. The outcome I expected was for him to just laugh if it off. At first, I felt really mischievous about this, but after my brother found out and got mad, I felt really bad. I felt like I had invaded his life, and I thought that he would be mad for 3 more days after that. I felt super guilty. I understood his point of view because I thought about how I would feel if I was him, and I realized that I would also be mad. Later that day I made a little "sorry" card and gave it to him. My brother forgave me and said that it was okay. He told me not to do anything like that again. The strategy was successful because by understanding how my brother felt, I managed to resolve the issue (him forgiving me).
