Drawing Objects Found In A Locker
Reverse value is when you have an object on a white or black background and the object is the opposite color of the background. The details on the object are the same color as the background. It's REALLY confusing! The tools I used were ink, fountain pens, pencil, eraser, light table, paint, paintbrushes, and Copic Multiliner Pens. I drew a gymnastics trophy, a donut, a water bottle, my SAS card and a drivers license from a Disneyland ride (Autopia), my wallet, money, scissors, my phone, my headphones, my hand, and a softball.
The most challenging part of this assignment was figuring out what to make black and what to make white. Once you figured that out, for white, you had to re-outline things and you had to do a lot of small, fine, details.
I like this optical illusion art because this person also used a bit of reversed value to make this look like a room. This helped me understand what this person did. They also made the rectangles smaller as teh go towards the middle to create the illusion of depth. They only used two colors to do this! The balls also get bigger as the come near the edges of the paper.
I chose this item to emphasize because gymnastics plays a BIG part in my life. I do gymnastics so much and it means a lot to me. This item really represents who I am, and what I love to do. If I made another object in color, I wouldn't really know what to do. I also made this trophy gold, and it really stands out against the black and white, but it doesn't stand out to much like SUPER bright colors would. I like this popping but simple gold look.
