Ellis Island Reflection
1. How do you think people felt upon their arrival to Ellis Island?
They probably felt excited that they had reached the "new world" after 3 long and hard weeks of travel, but some were probably nervous because they didn't know what lay ahead.
2. What do you think the immigration hall screening was like?
I think it was really chaotic because they were probably A TON of people, and it would've smelt really bad after being on a boat for 3 weeks, it would've been really loud, people screaming and crying after leaning about their fates, and there would've been no space to move around because it would've been so crowded.
3. How did you feel when you arrived at the classroom and learned about your fate?
I felt really sad because everyone else was sad there. After I found out that I was going back "home" I was super mad because I had to take another 3 week journey to get to a place that I was trying to escape. I was wishing that they could've checked us a second time just in case they accidentally deported us. I was wondering where my "family" was, and what happened to them. I was angry that I had to go back after all of my hard work of trying to get here.
